Non-Playable Characters

Roger Bacon: Yuri encountered this "strange creature" while traveling with Alice and hasn't been able to shake him yet. Roger is the sage of Shadow Hearts and is always around to fork over information, items, and transportation to its heroes. Whether he's willing to or not is debatable. For Yuri, he is almost his mentor, or as close to one as Yuri will allow himself to have. He knows Yuri better than Yuri knows himself and is maybe the only character aware of just how much Alice meant to him, with the possible exception of Gepetto.

Albert Simon: In the first game, Albert really does nothing but tick Yuri off. He kidnaps Alice, he tries to destroy the world. Why you gotta be that way, Al? In Covenant most of his evil is retconned away and he spends his time residing peacefully in Yuri's soul. Along with providing him with information about Rasputin, Albert becomes something of a confidant for Yuri. Yuri takes it in stride and doesn't mind his chats with Albert.

Masaji Kato: Yuri met Kato in Shadow Hearts as the nervous rookie subordinate of Yoshiko Kawashima. He reappears in Covenant as a high ranking officer in the Japanese Imperial Navy, but all Yuri has to say is that he's "still following orders". Yuri's initial opinion of him being a forgettable guy begins to change as he runs into Kato more and more. In a way, it's actually the same plans Yuri wants to stop that makes him take note and respect Kato. He may be trying to rewrite history to his liking but Yuri has to admit that he "thinks big". They also share the same pain of losing the woman they love and failing to revive her. But this strange sort-of-friendship and respect isn't enough to stop Yuri from planting a foot in Kato's face.

Nicolai Conrad: Yuri comes to a very manly and respected understanding with many of his arch rivals. Nicolai is not one of them. He and Yuri pretty much despise each other throughout Covenant.

Saki Inugami: Saki doesn't get much of a chance to talk with Yuri, which is definitely something I will always wish for. She showed a sort of dorky humor like Yuri's and says she would love to hear all about him, if only it weren't for this pesky save-the-world business going on. I don't doubt that if Yuri had found a way to remove the Mistletoe's curse he might have returned to the Inugami Village to hang with his new favorite aunt.
