Red X became intrigued with Robin from the moment their fight began. Robin was good, very good. They were equals. Matched in speed, strength, skill, weaponry, and complete opposites. To Red X, Robin presents a challenge. And Red X likes a challenge.

Through his taunts, X makes it clear he is vying for Robin's attention and nobody else's. He separates him from the group, getting rid of Raven and Beast Boy quickly and thus giving Starfire something to focus on, and goes after Robin. He approaches him in the building and invites him to chase him. Red X continually pushes Robin into places Robin doesn't want to be, both in the literal sense and not.

He shoves Robin onto the security platform, testing Robin's physical prowess. He taunts Robin, telling him he is a thief and likes it, and Robin becomes enraged. Red X's mere presence digs a knife into Robin's gut, and his glib nature only twists the blade.

In addition to this, when Red X returns in Revved Up, his self-appointed goal is one thing: win Robin's treasured possession from the Ding Dong Daddy. It's interesting to note that Red X appeared before any of the other villains had. He raced by Starfire and Raven as nothing but a black blur long before Starfire expositioned the episode's plot to Gizmo.

But this is where Red X shows his duel nature for the second time. After Robin saves him, Red X comments that doing so was a mistake. Robin has no response, and X seems to realize the gravity of the situation in asking the hero if the briefcase means that much to him. Robin's reserved response is enough to turn X's schemes around.

It is Robin who X focuses most of his attentions on. He gives the other Titans what is needed to dispose of them, leaving Robin to deal with him. It is Robin who challenges X. It is Robin who interests X.

But X isn't just intrigued by Robin, he also on some level respects him. They are equally matched in both physical and mental ability.
