tokyo majin gakuen kenpuchou: tou

Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpuchou: Tou is a Japanese animated series falling best into the shonen, or action, and supernatural categories. It is based on a Playstation video game of the same name, which is part of a series titled Tokyo Majin Gakuen.

Tokyo Majin is set in modern-day Japan where five high school students awaken power within them known as Dragon Veins. Using their new found abilities, they decide to protect their town from blood thirsty creatures known as the Reborn (or Returned) Dead; humans who have passed on but are now under the control of a higher demon. Typically, their adventures stray from their exact original goal, but the premise remains the same: protect Tokyo from murderous otherworldly phenomena.

The series is broken into two parts, the first being Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpucho: Tou with fourteen episodes broadcast in Japan from January 19th, 2007 to April 20th, 2007. The second season, Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpucho: To Dai Ni Maku (Second Act), was twelve episodes long and broadcast from July 27th, 2007 through October 12th, 2007. It has been licensed for release in the states by ADV Films and is released simply titled Tokyo Majin.

kyouichi: delinquent boy hero

Kyouichi Horaiji, or Horaiji Kyouichi if you're Japanese or desperately want to be, is a senior attending Magami High School. His specific stats are never given but we can assume he's somewhere between seventeen- and eighteen-years-old.

His introduction in the very first episode sums up his character nicely: he is a grouchy, mean guy who shrugs off attempts at friendship and has no problem ditching class to beat up members of a rival gang on school property. We quickly learn that a bad attitude and violent leanings are not all there is to him; under the friendships with yakuza members and battles with zombies, Kyouichi is a surprisingly normal teenage male. He attempts to hide his compassion for the sake of his masculinity and pride. Though it may be hard to tell at times, he is quick on his feet and not completely stupid.

He also can't quite grasp the pronunciation of "paparazzi". Like I said, it's hard to tell at times.
