About

If the title didn't give it away, this page tells you a little bit about Kubota, Wild Adapter, and fanlistings. Please note I've tried to avoid spoilers as much as possible.

Wild Adapter

Wild Adapter is an ongoing manga series written and created by Kazuya Minekura of Saiyuki fame. It is a character-driven manga taking place in the yakuza underworld infested with drug dealers and murderers. Its characters are often desperate and its setting is unforgiving.

Kubota Makoto, a former yakuza member and frequent mahjong player, is introduced in volume one. Tokitoh Minoru arrives in volume two with a forgotten past, a freaky hand, and something of an attitude problem. Together, they investigate a lethal street drug called WA than turns people into murderous animal-like monsters. They also help the manga toe the line between seinen and shounen-ai.

Kubota Makoto

Interested in nothing, yet fiercely curious about everything. Acts like he doesn't care, but with so much desire in his eyes. Only caring for himself, but completely masochistic. Needing nothing, clinging to everything. Chaos existing inside tight order.

Kubota Makoto seems to live an average, if mahjong addled, life before he is recruited to join the Izumokai youth division, a yakuza gang. Mysterious and whimsical, Kubota doesn't seem like much of a gangster at first. He doesn't take his responsibilities very seriously and seems more interested in bringing video games to the "office". We soon learn Makoto is much more deadly and ruthless than he appears.

But he is a multi-sided character to the extreme and we see his kindness shortly after his brutality. He can even be thoughtful if he puts his mind to it. An eccentric genius, a ruthless fighter, a devoted companion, a thoughtful stranger -- Kubota seems to be made of pieces that don't fit together. Maybe he can find the order in his own behavior. But then again, maybe he's just bored.

Kubota is one of the main protagonists of Wild Adapter and makes appearances in Araiso Private School Student Council Executive Committee.
